a little fabric and a lot of love...

Hello! Thank you for visiting ... Alice of Africa has been a little creative outlet for me that has grown, and I'm loving the journey!

I've designed and handcrafted each doll in my home studio, situated in a small, coastal, clifftop village along the outskirts of Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. My mom, Zilpah, kindly helps with the sewing of the dresses when things get busy, and my assistant Abigail, with the stuffing of the dolls bodies and knotting of their hair. Hours of thought, attention to detail and careful stitching have gone into each doll.

Alice of Africa dolls are approximately 38cm /15 inches in height and are firmly stuffed, with a nice solid feel when held. Most of their clothing items are removable and designed to be easy for little fingers to take on and off their doll. These dolls are intended for gentle play with children age 4 years and older.

Natural fibers such as linens and bamboo are used in creating these dolls, along with locally sourced, hand dyed cotton. Their faces are hand embroidered.

10% of every doll sold goes to supporting the amazing work of our local baby and children's haven, Zanethemba Charity Foundation. Look them up at www.zanethemba.org. or @zanethemba_haven on Instagram
